Gray Rock Resources Ltd. (the "Company") is pleased to report staking of 60 contiguous claims adjoining their optioned JC claims near Grass Valley, Lander County. The claim blocks cover about 1,200 acres and surround claims of Newmont Mining Corporation (“Newmont”).
In 2006, Newmont tested their claims for Carlin-type gold mineralization with several drill holes. Though their results are unknown, Newmont dropped many of their claims, which Gray Rock restaked on the basis of gold showings on the JC claims and early data compilation and field traverses of the surrounding geology.
As in the Carlin Gold Trend of Nevada, Gray Rock’s JC claims are centered on exposed mineralized lower plate rocks of the Roberts Mountain Thrust. The newly staked claims include surrounding areas of poorly exposed and prospected lower plate rocks, often covered by a thin veneer of valley-fill gravel. Detailed geologic mapping and sampling is now required to define any gold targets that warrant drill testing.
The Company was incorporated in 1950 and has property located in Lander County, Nevada and near the historic Bralorne and Pioneer Gold mines. These mines produced in excess of 4 million ounces of gold. Infrastructure is in place at Bralorne and a town nearby to draw skilled labour. Custom milling at the Bralorne mill may be an option for the Company provided it is successful in finding sufficient ore.
